What we do
At Ebor Vale Riding Club we are committed to helping horses, ponies and riders alike.
- We hold various training sessions at local equestrian centres and arenas. Show jumping, Dressage, Working Equitation, flat work, How to ride a dressage test and dressage to music test to name a few events.
- Social events are organised throughout the year, to allow our members to meet fellow members. Christmas party, Quiz night, table top/security marking, line dancing to name a few from 2025.
- We hold competitions through out the year in dressage, show jumping and showing.
- We send teams (and individuals) to compete in various disciplines against the other British Riding Club affiliated clubs in our Area and often qualify for the Championship competitions too.

Most of all we just have fun being with horses!
About the Club
Ebor Vale Riding Club was formed in the late 1970’s and we have used various fields as a base in the past for our shows around the York area. We currently do not have a club field so hold our events at Thornton House, Askham Bryan, Port Royal and other local venues. Obviously there is a benefit to being a club member in that training is usually cheaper than you will find for privately organised training. We also have a pool of excellent trainers who provide a range of styles of training; literally something for everyone!
The committee are determined to offer something for everyone with a wide range of riding and social activities planned each year. We welcome any help and suggestions with what we can offer our members and would love members to be involved so please reach out to us with ideas. Afterall, it’s your club and we can only organise things that interest you if you let us know.
We are always keen to hear from people who would like to join the committee, even if it’s just for a short time and a specific project. Get in touch. We’re also happy for members to come along to committee meetings. Items for the agenda should be with the secretary, Heather, two weeks before the meeting and let us know that you are coming so that we can make sure that there re enough chairs.
The committee are all volunteers with other commitments (families, work, horses etc.) so it can take time to get a response. If it’s urgent you can contact directly by email or phone using the information on the Contact and Payment Information page.
