Ebor Vale Riding Club News

Hello Members,

I write this watching the rain through the window and for once it’s a welcome sight. My fields are looking rather dry and brown and I am still feeding my ponios hay. I hope that we get enough of the wet stuff to replenish the grass but not too much that it stops us going out enjoying our selves.

A lot has been happening at club and at Area 4level with the virtual Novice and Intermediate Championships added to the mix too….

EVRC training events

Thanks to Rachael Smith our training at Thornton House Farm has been very popular and consistently well attended throughout the autumn and winter, when we were not in lockdown. The last session there was a jumping session with Amanda Snowdon. It was an opportunity for those individuals who like to jump to be tested by making them think about, riding corners, maintaining a consistent canter rhythm and analysing their own performance. Everyone enjoyed it and I have to say Hannah Wainwright who was in the first group with me and a few other oldies was an absolute delight and didn’t mind showing a few of us how to do it….

Zoe Nundy has also stepped in to organise some sessions with Russ Underwood. The XC training was very enjoyable and informative and we are looking forward to starting some jump training at Underwood Events to help prospective team members prepare for Area qualifiers.

BRC Winter Novice Championships 2019 and 2020

The Brc Championships had to be moved online due to Covid 19 and EVRC had a few riders competing virtually having Qualified in the October of 2019.

Rachael Smith riding Glory Hunter finished 6th in their Arena

Jenni Keuhnle riding Amarach Clover finished 7th in their Arena.

A fabulous achievement in a National competition.

The juniors qualified for the 2021 BRC Virtual Championships and unfortunately had to compete as a team of 3 as one of the ponies went lame. The team finished =9th which considering they were a rider down was an amazing achievement…

Elissa Harrison riding Lackagh Pride finished 9th in their Arena

Izzy Scanlon riding George finished 9th in their Arena

Keeley Nundy riding Ruby Tuesday finished 7th in their Arena

A brilliant job girls!!!!

Arena Eventing Qualifier

EVRC had one junior and two seniors representing

the club at Richmond in April. It was the first

actual Qualifier to be held since the DTM in July

Freya Pinwell  riding Abi represented EVRC in the Junior 80cm section and finished 9th out of a large class of 27 competitors.

Vicky Pears riding Noodles Blue Boy finished 24th in their class

Marie Spillane riding Westend Stevie finished 6th in their class

Club Training

Members are so lucky to be able to access such a variety of training opportunities with a range of instructors at EVRC. We try to cater for as many members as possible and accommodate requests wherever possible. However we ask that when members book a slot that they Bank Transfer funds straight away to Sort 54 41 24 Account No 54647908 and then text the person running the training to say funds have been transferred. Unfortunately if you are unable to attend the training for whatever reason the session will still have to be paid for, unless we or you can find a replacement.

May 5th was an opportunity for members to attend Underwood Events and receive instruction from Russ Underwood. I think all those that attended would agree that it was a fantastic and educational experience. We look forward to the next one scheduled for the 13th May.

Zoe is organising the training at “Underwoods” so

Please check the Diary Dates and FB and contact her

to book a slot.

We have such a lot going on for you all at the club so please take advantage and come along to some of the activities on offer.

Before I go I want to say a huge “Thank you “to Clare Field who offered to fence judge at the Area 4 Arena Eventing qualifier at Richmond. As members we are all required to offer to help, either at a club event or at an area Qualifier and it’s so much nicer if members come forward themselves rather than Sheila, our volunteer’s coordinator having to chase folk. We are all aware these activities would not run without an army of volunteers so please do your bit.

Take care and see you soon!

Jackie (Chair)
